Job Summary:
To assist the department in maintaining the campus grounds, Bethel buildings and maintaining a sanitary atmosphere and professional appearance of the facilities.
Essential Job Functions & Qualifications:
Grounds

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools equipment and ability to use them
  • Familiarity with lawn mowers and how they work
  • Knowledge and ability to mow grass
  • Knowledge of plant care
  • Ability to distinguish between wanted plants and unwanted plants
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to tolerate pollen, mold, grass and insect bites as they may cause health problems for those allergic to them
  • Ability to run equipment such as mowers, tractors, pickup trucks, dump trucks, John Deere gators, garden tools, hand and power tools

Housekeeping

  • Check for cobwebs, especially in corners
  • Wash walls
  • Clean furniture inside and out
  • Clean windows and window sills
  • Sweep
  • Vacuum
  • Dust
  • Mop
  • Clean bathroom fixtures (shower, toilet, sink)
  • Clean kitchen fixtures
  • Clean stains and spills
  • Collect and dispose of trash
  • Able to stretch, bend, scrub and kneel
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions (indoors with heat/AC, outdoors, dusty air)

Maintenance

  • Fulfill student work orders as requested
  • Assist with event set-ups
  • Pick up trash from campus dumpsters
  • Transport material to various campus departments
  • Repair poor lighting and poor ventilation by changing light bulbs and filters
  • Clean gutters and flat roofs
  • Collect recyclable items
  • Assist campus electrician and plumber
  • Must have valid driver’s license to operate maintenance vehicles
  • Able to operate maintenance equipment (drills, screwdrivers, hammers) safely
