Physical Plant Student Worker

Job Summary:
This position provides support across Housekeeping, Grounds, and Maintenance to assist in the daily operations and upkeep of campus facilities. Student workers will be assigned a primary department where they will work the majority of the time, but may occasionally assist in other areas as needed—especially during times of high demand or larger campus projects.
Essential Job Functions:
Housekeeping
- Assist with general cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and residence halls
- Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, and restocking supplies
- Summer duties include deep cleaning dorms and “flipping” rooms between camps and conferences
Grounds
- Support landscaping work including mowing, trimming, raking, and general upkeep
- Assist with weeding, leaf removal, and seasonal outdoor projects
- Summer duties include increased weeding, landscape maintenance, and special projects
Maintenance
- Help with event setup and teardown, light painting, and minor repairs
- Organize tools and assist maintenance staff as needed
- Summer duties include dorm furniture removal/reset and office moves
Qualifications:
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Able to follow instructions, work independently, and complete physical tasks
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and flexible in assigned duties
- Physical ability to lift 30–50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed
Job Expectations:
- Show up on time, ready to work, and communicate schedule changes in advance whenever possible
- Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude toward staff and students
- Be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
- Assigned 10–20 hrs/week during the academic year; up to 40 hrs/week during the summer (based on need and availability)
