Job Summary:
To learn and develop the ability to tell stories and produce content through video and to assist with the production and editing of the video needs of Bethel University.

Job Description and Learning Objectives:

Looking to create videos? We are looking for a creative person who is eager to learn how/enhance their ability to create videos from the very beginning of the project, forming the ideas, shooting the footage, editing, and promoting the final piece. This is a very hands-on internship with real work that you will create for Bethel University. Expect to be pushed and challenged to expand your creative problem solving, learn how to manage client relationships, understand the full process of editing a video, learn how to properly expose and capture footage, properly mic for interviews, and so much more!
This internship is meant to help you gain the experience and knowledge that you desire. Although there will be set projects you are expected to complete, there will be some freedom to determine what “concentration” you would like to focus on. This could be creating videos for social media, working on creating a documentary, or even a short film. The sky is the limit and we want to help equip you to be able to tell the stories you want to tell and to do it well.
Job Expectations:

  • Edit with the Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Adobe Rush, etc)
  • Shoot footage using Sony and Canon cameras
  • Learn the importance of data management
  • Help department with projects
  • Work on projects that are created for you
  • Evaluate the target audience and what videos could be helpfull
  • Learn how to market yourself as a creative in the work industry
  • Dedicated time spent with supervisor to make sure you can ask all the questions that you have and receive guidance regularly
  • Plan and produce one videos
  • Build your portfolio

  • Be self-motivated, hardworking, detail and deadline oriented
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, and solve problems
  • Be committed to always learning and asking questions
  • Desire to overcome challenges and push oneself through big projects

Job Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new software
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a schedule well
  • Passion to create artistic pieces and to tell stories
  • Basic knowledge of operating DSLR cameras, experience is preferred in video and photography, but is not required


  • Part time. August, 2022 – December, 2022
  • 150 hours per semester
  • 10 hours per week
    • 4 hours per week for editing
    • 3 hours per week for project work / learning
    • 3 hours for weekly office time to shadow, ask questions, work on projects together.

Internship Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and supervision
  • Perform formal evaluation
  • Provide appropriate workspace
  • Provide intern with letters of recommendation and professional references upon satisfactory completion of internship
  • Provide intern with tools to develop as a student, a leader, and a future employee
  • Review timecards and pay hourly wage


The Bethel University Intern Program is an initiative designed to provide traditional students with practical knowledge through meaningful work experiences. Students participating in these internships will perform research, tasks and projects that complement course work with their majors. Students will participate in two career development workshops, two diversity and inclusion workshops, and a resume coaching session during their first semester in order to continue with the program during their second semester. Employers prefer to see internships on a résumé and desire the skills gained from these experiences. Internships are available within participating Bethel University Departments.

What is an Internship?

An internship is a mentored work experience with an educational focus tied to the student’s course work within their major. Typically, an internship is available for one or two semesters. They range from 10-12 hours per week for 14 weeks per semester for a maximum of 150 hours. Students must be registered for an internship course in their major to participate. The Bethel University Internship Program is a paid student worker program.

Student Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for an internship you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Full-time traditional student in good standing
  2. Student must be registered for an internship course within their major
  3. Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA and not on academic probation
  4. Declared major related to the internship
  5. May be required to possess specific competencies or skills to qualify for internship
  6. Must submit cover letter and resume along with application form
