Job Summary:

The Photography Social Media Intern will capture, edit, and curate high-quality photos that showcase Bethel University’s community, events, academics, and campus life. The role involves attending campus happenings, photographing student experiences, and aligning visuals with brand and campaign goals. Interns will maintain an organized photo library, contribute to social media content, and research trends to enhance engagement. A key focus will be helping to promote a semester-long campaign focused on STEM, Business, ASL, and Education.

Essential Functions:

  • Attend campus events, student activities, and key moments to take high-quality photos.
  • Capture student life, classroom experiences, and campus beauty in both candid and posed formats.
  • Edit and organize images for university usage.
  • Collaborate with the social media team to ensure visual content aligns with branding and campaign needs.
  • Maintain a consistent photo library organized by theme/event/date.
  • Collect photos to be used for promoting our most popular areas of study: STEM, Business, ASL, and Education.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a college student (preferably in photography, media arts, marketing, communications, or a related field)
  • Detail-oriented with good follow-through and ability to work autonomously.
  • Global/futuristic thinker who can see the big picture and forecast future goals.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively with the marketing/social media team.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative, resourceful, flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Willingness to occasionally attend on-campus events/activities.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Bethel’s campus culture and student life dynamics
  • Proficiency with DSLR/mirrorless cameras and basic photo editing tools (Lightroom preferred).
  • Eye for composition, lighting, and moment-driven photography.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Experience shooting for social media campaigns or brand projects.
  • Knowledge of current photography trends, especially for Instagram and Facebook.
