Job Summary:
The Content & Analytics Social Media Intern will support Bethel University’s digital presence by helping plan, schedule, and evaluate social media content. This role includes managing the content calendar, tracking performance metrics, and preparing reports with actionable insights. The intern will contribute to brainstorming campaigns, drafting captions, and researching trends, while also monitoring competitors for inspiration. A key focus will be helping to promote a semester-long campaign focused on STEM, Business, ASL, and Education.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with social media calendar planning and post scheduling.
- Monitor performance metrics (reach, engagement, impressions, follower growth, etc.).
- Prepare monthly reports and content audits with insights and recommendations.
- Help brainstorm and draft captions, reels ideas, and campaign themes.
- Keep track of trends, hashtags, and competitors for inspiration.
- Keep track of what is going well and suggest changes in our social media campaign focused on promoting our most popular areas of study: STEM, Business, ASL, and Education.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a college student (preferably in photography, media arts, marketing, communications, or a related field)
- Detail-oriented with good follow-through and ability to work autonomously.
- Global/futuristic thinker who can see the big picture and forecast future goals.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively with the marketing/social media team.
- Ability to be creative, innovative, resourceful, flexible and adaptive to change.
- Interest in content strategy, social media trends, and digital storytelling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar for tracking metrics.
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.
- Strong written communication skills for captions and reporting.
Desired Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Instagram/Facebook analytics tools.
- Interest in content strategy, trends, and storytelling data.
- Experience creating and managing a social media content calendar.
- Organizational skills for managing multiple campaigns at once.
- Knowledge of Social Media management platforms such as Hootsuite.
